Creating and Sharing a Teacher Amazon Classroom Wish List

Classroom Resources· New Teachers

We all know that teaching is one of the few professions that requires you to pay for your supplies out of your pocket! Thankfully, over the last few years, communities have been purchasing items from an Amazon Classroom Wish List for teachers.

Amazon Classroom Wish List Are Easy to Set-Up

Creating Your Classroom Wish List

Creating a wish list or shopping list on Amazon is easy. Under your account on the website, click “Your Lists” and then “Create a List.” On the mobile app, you can go under your lists and click the plus symbol to create a new list. I recommend that you include your grade level in the name. Such as “Third Grade Classroom Wish List.”

Then click on “… More” and choose “Manage List.” Under this section, you must change the privacy to “Public” so anyone can find or see your list. Then, for Recipient, I put “your name’s class.” For example, under recipient, I put “Mrs. Jones’ Class.” This will be how it arrives at your school or home. I recommend using your personal email. Then, under the shipping address, have it shipped to your school or home address. If you’re able, I recommend using your school address, so there’s no chance your address is out there and so you don’t have to transport your items to school. I have it addressed to “Mrs. Jones Third Grade Class.”

There is also an area to add a description to your list. This is a great area to tell people more about what makes your classroom/school unique and to thank them for supporting you and your class. Below is an example description:

I appreciate you taking a moment to look at our class Amazon wish list or sharing it on social media. This is a list of items that will help ____ graders learn and grow. Our class is learning about ___. We are in need of ___ so that we can ___. Thank you for considering donating to our class.

Time to Window Shop

Once your list is set up, you can browse Amazon and then add items to it. To add an item, click on the dropdown menu and add it to the list under the “Buy Now” button on the website. You can find a link on the mobile app that says, “Add to List,” under the pricing information on each item. Select your wish list, and it will automatically be added to your list.

If you’d like to organize your list, you can change the order of the items listed on the website. You can also add notes to each item to provide information about how your class will use it or the difference it will make in your classroom.

The best time to shop and share your list is when Amazon has deals. During the summer, they will have Prime Day. You can see what classroom supplies they have on sale during Prime Day through this link: Amazon Classroom Supplies Prime Day Deals. I have found that people often like to purchase books for your classroom. Here are some books on sale during Prime Day: Prime Day Deals on Elementary Books.

Share Your List

Once you’ve started your list, it’s time to share it. A good starting place is to share it on your social media platforms, such as Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram. You can use hashtags to help get your post seen, such as #clearthelist2023, #clearthelist, or #myclassroomwishlist.

However, if you’d prefer not to rely on your own community, some influencers have a collection of lists that they share with their communities. This is a great way to get your list noticed by people outside your small community. A great account to check out is Robin of teacherwishlists on Instagram. She works hard to share teacher’s lists. You can also add your lists to websites such as Get Your Teach On’s “Clear the List. “ I’ve also found teachers with big followings also share other people’s lists.

Good luck with your list. I hope you get all that you wish for!

Thank you for sharing!
